Food History: Victorian Recipe for Birthday Plum Pudding (Peterson's Magazine, December 1891)

Here is a Victorian recipe for a birthday plum pudding from the December 1891 issue of Peterson's Magazine. The article specifically mentions, "Note that this plum pudding has neither suet, flour, nor butter in it. It is on that acount considered by many to be more digestible than an ordinary plum pudding." It seems that the Victorians had plenty of dietary restrictions too!
